About

Austin Charnis is a classical and contemporary fingerstyle guitarist from Westchester, New York. He studied guitar performance at SUNY Fredonia and received his Bachelor of Arts in Music Business in 2009. Austin has been teaching and performing professionally for over a decade. Currently residing in the up-and-coming music filled city of Peekskill on the Hudson, he is available for events and private lessons of all styles in Westchester County and its surrounding areas. If you’re looking for live colorful music for a wedding ceremony or cocktail hour hour, corporate event, private party or other special function, you’ve come to the right place!

As an author of original methods, Austin has developed his own unique and effective style of teaching that allows students to establish a thorough understanding of the instrument while being creative and having fun. Students range from children to adults, and beginners to advanced players who study anything from classical to classic rock, and everything in between. Whether you’re interested in learning a new instrument or style, trying to sharpen those chops, preparing for a college audition or simply looking to play the chords to some favorite songs, Austin’s lessons will help you achieve your goals.

Before attending college Austin was mainly a rock guitarist, but discovered his love for classical while studying with Mr. Peter Press of the Hoff-Barthelson Music School. Some of his biggest performer and composer influences include: David Russell, Tommy Emmanuel, Eduardo Fernandez, Heitor Villa-Lobos, Roland Dyens, Chet Atkins, Jerry Reed, the Assad Brothers, Antonio Lauro, John Williams, Los Romeros and many more.
